MUSCAT: In compliance with the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Oman's unwavering commitment to resolving the issue of detainees held in Iran and Belgium has yielded positive results.


Through dedicated diplomatic endeavours, the Omani government has successfully facilitated a mutual release agreement between the two countries. On Friday, those detained in Tehran and Brussels were transferred to Muscat in preparation for their safe return to their respective nations.


The Sultanate of Oman expresses its profound appreciation for the constructive and humanitarian approach demonstrated by both the Iranian and Belgian governments during the talks held in Muscat. Their shared determination to settle this pressing issue has brought about a resolution that upholds the values of compassion and justice.


Meanwhile, Jassim bin Mohammed al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, commended the Sultanate of Oman for its remarkable efforts in adhering to the royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. These efforts were instrumental in resolving the issue of detained nationals in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Belgium, he said in Riyadh.


The Secretary-General emphasised that Oman played a crucial role in facilitating the mutual release of nationals from both Iran and Belgium. The diligent endeavours undertaken by Oman showcased the significant contributions of its longstanding diplomacy in resolving complex regional and international matters. - ONA
