Direct foreign investments in Oman exceed RO 19.6bn

Muscat: The direct foreign investment in Oman reached RO 19.620 billion with financial inflow of RO 1.860 billion compared to a total investments value of RO 17.760 billion during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The sectors of extracting oil and gas and real estate activities came on top of foreign investments in Oman by the end of the fourth quarter in 2022, constituting a rise by 10.5%.


Foreign investment in the activity of extracting oil and gas had the biggest share of direct foreign investments during the fourth quarter of 2022 with a total value of RO 14,166.3 million, going up from RO12,177.7 million by the end of the fourth quarter of 2021. It was followed by the converting industries activity which stood at RO 1,549.1 million, comprising a drop by RO 1,705.4 million. The financial intermediation activity came next with RO 1,481.7 million, comprising a drop from RO 1,648.3 million.

Direct foreign investment in real estate activities increased from RO 990.6 million by the end of the fourth quarter in 2021 to reach RO 1,037.7 million by the end of the fourth quarter in 2022. Director foreign investments in other activities increased from RO 1,240.6 million to RO 1,388.9 million.


Direct foreign investments from the United Kingdom were the highest with a total value of RO 10.156 billion, followed by the United States of America with RO 2,735.8 million. The United Arab Emirates was next with RO 1,083.4 million.


To break down the figures, investments from some other countries stood as the following: RO 927.5 million from Kuwait, RO 896.8 million from China, RO 370.3 million from Bahrain, RO 327.7 million from Qatar, RO 255.2 million from India, RO 241.1 from the Netherlands and RO 171.1 million from Switzerland, as well as RO 2,458.8 million from other countries.
