Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) announced on Sunday the opening of registration for the 10th edition of the National Scientific Research Award.

According to the ministry, the registration will run from Sunday, May 21 to Thursday, July 20.

The award is given out to two segments: the first is accorded to the best published research led by a PhD holder or equivalent degrees (Senior Specialist or higher in the medical field), and the second is awarded to the best published scholarly research made by researchers other than PhD holders.

The award covers six sectors, which are: education and human resources, information and communication systems, health and social service, culture and social and studies, energy and industry, and environment and biological resources.

The ministry said the 10th edition of the national award aims to motivate researchers to conduct scientific research of high quality and national priorities, to qualify national cadres who are able to compete, and to create integration through assessing the national research output between various academic institutions.
