UTAS Sur hosts awareness event on water conservation

SUR: Public relations students at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Sur organised an awareness event as part of their public relations campaign on water conservation called Nemah. The event, held at the university campus, was attended by esteemed guests, university students and community members.


Dr Rashid bin Nasser al Matani, the dean of UTAS Sur, graced the occasion as the chief guest, and Dr Rashid bin Yahya al Abri, the executive director of Oman Water Society, delivered an engaging talk that shed light on the importance of water conservation and their initiatives in the field.


In his inaugural address, Dr Matani said, ‘We are really happy with the creativity presented by the students every year, and we appreciate their effort to disseminate socially relevant messages to the community."

Expressing happiness on the successful initiation of the campaign, Public Relations Student Muhja al Ghailani said, ‘We are pleased to hold this campaign event to present various issues related to water conservation. Our team has put great effort in creating an unforgettable experience for the attendees."


During the event, the students at the university theatre club performed a skit emphasising the theme of water conservation. Among the performers, the talented student singer, Hamad al Ruzaiqi, gave a musical treat that enthralled the audience while a short video documentary was screened at the event to showcase the water conservation efforts of farmers in Wadd village near Sur.


A representative from farmers Said bin Musallam al Dawoodi delivered a talk about the ancient and modern irrigation methods, systems and the importance of water conservation.
