JEDDAH: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Finance, took part in the 48th annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank’s Board of Governors in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In his speech, Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, said it is important for the Islamic Development Bank to embrace an approach aimed at building sustainable partnerships among member states with a view of promoting joint interests between them and in a way that enables them to face crises. This, he said, can be achieved through establishing strategic projects that enhance cooperation and partnership between the member states.

He pointed to the importance of focusing on infrastructure and economic and investment integration in important sectors such as health, education and transportation.

The meetings were attended by a number of ministers of economy, planning and finance from 57 member states of the Islamic Development Bank Group, in addition to representatives of Islamic banks, international and regional financial institutions, federations of contractors and consultants from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). — ONA
