Muscat: Dr Laila Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, held a meeting in her office on Tuesday with Adele Khader, Regional Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the Middle East and North Africa, who is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting discussed a joint programme between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the period 2022-2025. It also touched on the vision of the Ministry of Social Development for developing programmes related to child protection.

The meeting dealt with ways to benefit from the technical expertise of the UNICEF in training Omani nationals in the field of childhood affairs.

The minister underscored the significance of the UNICEF delegation’s visit which, she said, “reflects the depth of relations and offers an opportunity to exchange views and expertise on various sectors of social action, most notably childhood care”.

On her turn, the UNICEF official commended Oman’s firm stance on issues related to childhood and expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministry of Social Development in the field of family care.
