Muscat: The Muscat Municipal Council has reacted to reports that commercial activities will be disallowed on 18 November Street in the governorate.

The Municipal Council said that efforts to regulate the use of residential buildings for commercial purposes with the competent authorities are based on identifying the important commercial activities or the nature of their work, in accordance with the municipal requirements regulating them.

With regard to 18 November Street in the Wilayat of Bausher, the permit to practice commercial activities is still valid, and the reassessment of the status of residential streets for commercial use in the Muscat Governorate is currently being studied according to the economic development.

Muscat Municipality has been working on expanding Al Mouj and 18 November streets to solve traffic congestion problems in the city.

It will implement a project to widen Al Mouj and 18 November streets with an additional lane in each direction, besides transforming some roundabouts into high-capacity signal intersections.
