Oman Air forecasts an increase in revenues in 2023, a smaller fleet

Muscat: The National Airline, Oman Air, has revealed some key highlights of its expected performance this year.


The total revenue forecast for 2023 is expected to be up 236 percent in 2023, compared to 128 percent in 2022 and -3 percent in 2021.


The number of passengers using the airline increased by 182 percent with revenues going up by 88 percent.


The forecasted net loss for 2023 is -56 percent compared to -35 in 2022 and -26 percent in 2021.


The forecasted cargo capacity of the airline increased by 160 percent in 2023 (bringing in an increase of 360 percent in revenues), compared to 116 percent growth in 2022 and 33 percent in 2021.


The airline said that its Omanisation level is 75 percent with 90 percent of pilots now locals, followed by Omani male crew (100 percent), engineers (90 percent and support employees (93 percent).


A total of 155 new Omani employees joined the company in 2023, including seven pilots, 63 cabin crew, 40 engineers and 45 support staff.


All flights reported an on-time performance of 96 percent as the airline operated to 44 destinations.


The fleet strength of the airline as per the agreements signed between 2011 and 2015 will be limited to 45 (10, A330s, 13 737s (Max), 13 737NG, and 9 Dreamliners), compared to 54 in 2022.
