The local residents (all Omantel and Ooredoo subscribers) of Musannah received early warning messages on their mobile phone service as the service was inaugurated by Engineer Omar bin Hamdan al Ismaili, CEO, of TRA.

In the pilot run, the experiment targets a number of coastal states and regions, starting with South al Batinah Governorate, South al Sharqiyah South, Al Wusta, Muscat, Dhofar, Musandam, and North al Batinah.

Messages are sent as per approved international standards in the form of customized ringtones that appears on the phone automatically and does not require subscribers to do anything.
