SEEB SECURE THIRD SPOT
Al Seeb have temporarily secured third place following a 2-0 victory over Sohar in a postponed match at the Seeb Sports Stadium.
In the first half, Al Seeb's players attempted to advance forward to score an early goal, but the result remained negative without goals until the 45th minute.
At the beginning of the second half, Sohar coach pushed some alternative cards to improve his team's performance, while Al Seeb's coach preserved the basic line-up with which he started the match.
Seeb striker Mohsen al Ghassani almost opened the scoring in the match with a beautiful header, but the ball went out near to the post.
However, Al Ghassani compensated for wasting that opportunity by scoring the first goal in the 52nd minute with a powerful ball hit in the difficult corner of Sohar goalkeeper Youssef al Shiyadi’s goal. Sohar players organised their ranks well and looked for an equaliser, but Al Seeb goalkeeper Mutasim al Wahaibi saved a number of their easy and dangerous opportunities.
Al Seeb striker Abdulaziz al Muqbali added the second goal in the 82nd minute after dribbling couple of defenders inside the box, revealing the goal in front of him and hitting a strong shot to the right of goalkeeper Youssef al Shiyadi. Al Muqbali's goal ended Sohar's last hope of returning to the match.
With this victory, Al Seeb continued their good comeback and climbed to third place with 41 points while Sohar remained eighth with 30 points.
