Musandam Carnival, a major promotional campaign for economic development of Musandam, began at Bussa Beach in the Wilayat of Khasab. The event, which runs from April 26-28, features a range of activities and entertainment programmes for all segments of society.

The carnival has a food corner offering traditional and international cuisine, a shopping corner showcasing local products and home projects, a children's activities corner, and a youth activities corner for musical performances and electronic games. There are also marine activities, a theatre corner, and an events corner.

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority is participating in the carnival with various SMEs and craftsmen showcasing their products and services.

According to Manea bin Abdullah al Shehhi, Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Department in Musandam Governorate, the authority is promoting its initiatives and services to participants and encouraging them to benefit from them.

The tourism sector in the Governorate of Musandam has seen a significant growth, with an increasing number of ships docking at the Port of Khasab. The number of cruise ships in 2022 and the beginning of 2023 reached about 58, with a total of 18,999 visitors. The governorate has eight hotel establishments with a rating of one to five stars, comprising 512 rooms plus hotel apartments and green lodges.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is playing a crucial role in the development of the governorate, with efforts to address the challenges facing small and medium enterprises operating in the tourism sector. The ministry has provided alternate opportunities for these enterprises to promote their heritage tourism product within the pavilions of the Sultanate of Oman that are supervised by the ministry.

The Musandam Carnival is expected to attract visitors from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad and promote business opportunities for local companies, including small and medium enterprises and home-based projects.
