MUSCAT: Al Bashayer surprised Al Ittihad as they snatched a valuable 1-0 win over hosts Al Ittihad in the 22nd week of Omantel League at Al Saada Stadium on Monday night. Diyob netted the winner in an early minutes of the first half as he found the net in the fifth minute of the match.

Despite the triumph, Al Bashayer remained in the danger position at the bottom of the table with 12 points. The Al Dhakhiliyah-based team managed to reduce the gap with the 13th placed team Al Oruba to one point as the Sur representative team has 13 points in the 13th position.

Al Ittihad missed the chance to go little away with the defeat as they remained on 16 points in the 12th place. Both teams entered the match with a target to get valuable points and move away from the danger zone. Al Bashayer, coached by Mohammed Fathi, will try to claim as many points in the remaining four rounds of the league despite the tough opponents. Al Ittihad, coached by national coach Khalid al Lahoori, need to be more focused in the forthcoming fixtures and avoid missing any points to remain among the top-tier league clubs.

On the other hand, Sur missed a golden opportunity to extend the gap with the closest rivals Al Ittihad to seven points as the latter suffered a defeat against Al Bashayer.
