Oman Power and Energy Forum 2023 to start from May 22

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman will host, starting from May 22, the second edition of the Oman Power and Energy Conference, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and with the international and local participation of the power and energy sector, at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Muscat.


Over the course of three days, the conference will discuss the latest developments in the power and energy sector and the progress achieved by the Sultanate of Oman in terms of energy transition efforts in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. It will also review the latest technologies and innovations in the sector and exchange knowledge with the participation of officials, experts and specialists in the sector from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad.


Talking about the event, Prof Abdullah al Badi, Chairman, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Oman Section, stated, “After the highly successful first edition, IEEE Power Talks – Oman’s Power & Energy Forum presents yet another excellent platform to share knowledge and drive collaboration between industry leaders and stakeholders from various organisations.


The programme is designed to spread expertise and present the latest technologies and innovations across power and energy sector through a plenary session, panel discussions, presentations by subject matter experts, workshops and masterclasses.


These meaningful interactions will go a long way in enhancing Oman’s potential to become a leading energy hub in the region and fast-track the energy transition path in alignment with Vision 2040 goals.”


On the focus areas for the event, Eng Abdullah al Wahaibi, Chairperson, IEEE Power & Energy Society, said, “The event is based on six key themes. Under the first theme ‘Market and Policies Updates’, we will discuss topics such as energy economics, extension of PPA agreements based on Power 2024, demand projection and expected growth.
