Muscat: The Oman Meteorology Office said in its weather forecast that convective clouds associated with a rain of varying intensity ranging between (10-40 mm), strong downdraft winds, and hail are predicted over the mountainous areas of the governorates of Musandam, South Al Batina, North Al Batina, Buraimi, Al Dahira, Al Dakhiliya, South Al Sharqiya, and North Al Sharqiya. The coastline of the Sea of Oman is likely to experience the same in the noon and evening.

According to Oman Met, low horizontal visibility is expected to decrease below 2,000 metres due to dust rising over the coastal areas overlooking the Sea of Oman.

In an online alert, the Met Office has outlined instructions to be followed during the dusty weather. The weather forecasters urged the public to stay indoors, ensure doors and windows are closed tightly, avoid speeding in the event of low visibility, wear a mask over your mouth and nose to prevent you from breathing in dust, wear glasses to protect eyes, and monitor weather updates.
