Met Office issues weather alert

Muscat: Cloud activity and rainfall of varying intensity resulting from upper air trough have been reported in parts of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah governorates.


There is also flow of clouds over the central desert.


A weather alert has been issued a Civil Aviation Authority on ninth April from 11 AM till 11 PM due to the heavy thunder showers over the governorates of Al Wusta, Dhofar, South Al Sharqiya and Al Hajr Mountains. The rainfall may range between 10 mm and 30 mm. The civil aviation authority has also cautioned the public not across Wadis due to flash floods and to avoid low lying areas during the alert period.


Horizontal visibility could be less than 1000 meters.


The influence of upper air trough is expected until Tuesday.
