Muscat Municipality has launched a cleanliness campaign named 'Be careful' in association with the environment agency and called for the preservation of the environment. It also called for systematic initiatives for cleanliness and aesthetic values.

The campaign is part of the general hygiene campaign in six wilayats of the Muscat Governorate -- Muscat, Muttrah, Bausher, Al Seeb, Al Amerat, and Qurayat.

"Muscat Municipality is keen to keep the city clean and pollution free because maintaining cleanliness is also a religious activity during the holy month," Ahmed bin Mohammed al Hamidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, told the media.

Al Hamidi indicated that Muscat Municipality is participating with the Environment Agency and other government agencies to support the national campaign for public hygiene, which continues under the slogan 'Be careful'. It aims to reduce the phenomenon of waste and pollutants that affect the land, sea and air, and cause health and environmental risks to humans and living organisms.

"We, at Muscat Municipality, appreciate all the individual initiatives and efforts by NGOs as well as institutions in this regard, and salute the efforts that are being made for the sake of the cleanliness and splendour of this country, which is dear to us." Under this campaign, every individual is responsible to keep his/her premises clean at work and home and follow a systematic way that preserves the environment and maintains the aesthetics of the place.

"While consolidating noble values towards dealing with the environment and the city, we must also nurture sustainable and positive behaviour and work together for healthy and green cities," he concluded.
