Al Oruba edge Bashayer to post first OL win

MUSCAT: Al Oruba tasted their first victory in the 2022-23 Omantel League in the 20th week as they defeated Al Bashayer 2-1 on Monday night at Sur Sports Complex.


Frank from Al Oruba scored the winning goals while Al Muhanad al Habsi netted the regulation goal for Al Bashayer. The triumph meant Sur-based team equalised Al Bashayer as both teams have 10 points. Despite their win, Al Oruba and Al Bashayer are placed in the danger zone and the closest teams to relegate into the first division league. The difference to the fourth team from bottom is ten points as Sur hold 20 points.


AL SUWAIQ REDUCE GAP


Al Suwaiq reduced their gap with the league toppers Al Nahda to two points as they registered a 4-1 win over Sur at Al Rustaq Sports Complex. Oman national team player Issam al Subhi put his team ahead in the 34th and 40th minutes and the first half ended with 2-0. In the deciding half, Abdulrazaq Feston scored the first goal for Sur in the 57th minute before Al Suwaiq’s Mamadoo confirmed North Al Batinah team's victory by scoring the third and fourth goals in the 77th and 86th minutes respectively. The win took Al Suwaiq to 40 points while Sur remained on 20 points.


Al Rustaq snatched a crucial 1-0 win over Al Ittihad at Al Saada Sports Complex. The only goal in the match was scored by Ahmed al Adawi in the second minute of the match. The winning points kept Al Rustaq in third place with 38 points, two points more than second-placed team Al Suwaiq. The defeat put Al Ittihad in trouble with 16 points in the 12th place.
