MUSCAT, APRIL 4

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion yesterday unveiled new electronic services on the Invest Easy portal (www.business.gov.om) with the goal of expediting service completion and simplifying business processes. The longer-term objective is to boost Oman’s ranking in the global business environment index, it said.

Additionally, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, the ministry launched new electronic services on the Invest Easy portal to enable private investment in the private school sector, including registering for private schools for early education (kindergarten), private schools, international private schools, foreign schools (for expatriates), and private schools for early education (kindergarten - Quran education).

Moreover, in collaboration with the municipal sector in the governorates of Oman, the Ministry introduced a service for issuing commercial signs to facilitate investors in initiating their business activities through the Invest Easy portal.

This service is integrated into the economic activity license application submission process when registering a new branch for practicing activities, and incurs a one-time fee of RO 15 upon application submission, with the annual renewal service for commercial signs being discontinued.

Mubarak bin Mohammed al Dhuhani, Director General of Trade, stated that the new features are in line with the National Programme for Digital Transformation and the comprehensive development of services provided by the ministry in collaboration with government agencies.

According to Al Dhuhani, the launch of services in the education and municipalities sectors will support the launch of new businesses and assist investors in completing their transactions electronically through the self-service or service delivery offices.

The portal is presently connected to 34 data exchange agencies and 17 government agencies with licensing authority, he said.
