

MUSCAT: The State Council’s standing committees are presently discussing the draft Social Protection Law and draft Labour Law.
The Economic Committee discussed the draft Social Protection Law referred by the Council of Ministers, at its fifth regular meeting held under the chairmanship of Shaikh Mohammed bin Abudllah al Harthi, chairman of the committee, on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Social Committee discussed the draft Social Protection Law at its meeting held under the chairmanship of Ali bin Ahmed al Harthi, chairman of the committee.
The State Council’s Legal Committee discussed the draft Labour Law from the legal perspective at its meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Dr Said bin Sultan al Busaidy.
In their study of the draft laws, the committees embrace a systematic well-studied track to apply the time plan for studying each draft law and each committee produces its own visions that contribute to serving the national objectives of these laws.
The sub-committee affiliated to the Education and Research Committee tasked with studying the reality of policies and legislation pertaining to distance education and ways to develop them in the Sultanate of Oman, held its fourth under the chairmanship of Dr Juma bin Khalifa al Busaidi. The sub-committee discussed the draft study that aims to identify the latest developments in the field of distance education.
