MUSCAT: Renaissance Cricket Team claimed the third position in the Premier Division powered by Muscat Pharmacy of the Oman Cricket Domestic League 2022-23.

Renaissance defeated Yalla Shabab by four wickets in the third position match where Yalla Shabab batting first scored only 149 all out in 38.4 overs. Renaissance chased down the target scoring 152-6 in 32.5 overs. Imran Ali’s 4-24 and Hammad Mirza’s 38 off 46 balls was the key catalyst to their victory.

Through the season, Hammad Mirza was the best batter for Renaissance to notch 320 runs in 13 innings at an average of close to 25 followed by Shubo Pal scoring 265 runs in 12 innings.

Bilal Muhammed was Renaissance’s key armer leading their pace attack picking 15 wickets in 9 innings followed by Fawad Ali claiming 11 scalps in 10 innings.

Nisal Fernando, head coach of the Renaissance CT, expressed delight on the victory.

“This is the second consecutive year that we have finished among the top three. The boys worked very hard throughout the season, and I am thrilled at the outcome. I attribute this success to team discipline and mentorship from senior players. Renaissance performed brilliantly this season, putting up a good fight against tougher teams and snatching key games by the slimmest of margins.”

“The next Premier Division season will be even tougher, but we will be going into it well-prepared and with the experience of having played all formats in 2022-23.”

Renaissance won three out of their seven games in the initial round of the Premier Division positioned at number 4 and qualifying for the Super League.
