JAALAN BANI BU ALI: Al Ruwais area in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate is among the most beautiful coastal areas overlooking the Arabian Sea.

Distinguished by its well-known pink lakes that look like a stunning painting, the area is a major tourism destination and an exceptional scene to be viewed from cars travelling on Al Ruwais road.

The eye-catching pink lakes is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the sea water streams into a valley (Khur Al Ruwais) resulting in lower oxygen level and higher salinity causing Algae and marine plankton to die off and the water colour to turn pink.

The vivid pink lakes are viewed by the residents as particularly important for being a tourist attraction. The pink lakes are also a source of food for migratory birds particularly flamingos and other marine birds. — ONA
