Muscat: No severe weather expected as the Sultanate of Oman experiences upper air trough, although clouds prevailed over the governorates, according to the Oman Meteorology Office (Oman Met).
The weather forecast stated that there are chances of convective clouds, occasionally thundershowers, over Al Hajr Mountains and governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta.
Active northwesterly wind ranging from 20 to 25 knots are expected to blow nationwide, leading to dust rising and low horizontal visibility, the Oman Met said.
The weather forecaster at Oman Met Office said the weather with the flow of high and medium clouds will continue on Monday as well. The medium clouds also brought in sporadic rain in Al Wusta.
The weather forecaster added, “There is a chance for rain over the mountains of Dhofar Governorate during Sunday evening and on Monday.”
The aerial picture showed the flow of high and medium clouds over most of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, and low clouds intensify over parts of the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, with opportunities for cumulus clouds to form and scattered rain over the Hajar Mountains and parts of the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates during the evening.
There are chances for dust and dust to rise in desert and exposed areas due to active winds.
“The sea state for the Arabian Sea is expected to be light to moderate, meanwhile the Oman Sea and Western Coast of Musandam will see the situation to be moderate to rough,” pointed out the weather forecaster.
