Muscat: To meet patients’ need for blood and its components, nearly 3,000 blood and platelet donors are urgently needed to donate during the holy month of Ramdhan, according to the Central Blood Bank in Bausher.

The first week of Ramadhan had seen 560 blood donors and 52 platelet donors.

The Department of Blood Banks Services of the Central Blood Bank said that people wishing to donate blood can visit the centre’s premises from Sunday to Thursday in the morning period, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The evening period will be on a daily basis from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm.

At the same time, the director of Blood Bank Services praised the role of donors and said the increasing number of blood donations is due to community awareness of the importance of blood donation, as well as the media bodies in conveying this humanitarian message.

The Central Blood Bank has been urging the community to continue donating blood to maintain a safe stock of blood units as health services continue to be expanded in the country.
