

MUSCAT: Oil production in the Sultanate of Oman increased at the end of February by 3 per cent, recording 62.75 million barrels. The preliminary data of National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), showed that the Sultanate of Oman’s oil exports decreased by 6.9 per cent at the end of February with 49.71 million barrels.
Crude oil production reached 49.39 million barrels at the end of last February, up by 2.9 per cent compared to the same period in 2022. Oil condensate production also increased by 3.5 per cent, reaching 13.35 million barrels, compared to 12.91 million barrels for the same period in 2022. The average daily oil production increased by February-end to 163,600 barrels, at a rate of 3 per cent, compared to the same period in 2022, which was 132,700 barrels.
The monthly bulletin showed that the average price per barrel at the end of February 2023 reached $81.8, an increase of 6.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2022, when the price per barrel reached $76.7.
China topped the list of countries importing Omani oil with 44.49 million barrels, followed by India with 1.71 million barrels then Japan with 1.26 million barrels.
The data issued by NCSI indicated that the domestic production of natural gas (including imports) in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 10.3 per cent by February-end, reaching 8.55 billion cubic metres, compared to 7.74 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2022. The production of associated gas increased by 9.4 per cent to reach 1.71 billion cubic metres, and the production of non-associated gas, including imports, increased by 10.6 per cent to reach 6.84 billion cubic metres.
The NCSI data also indicated an increase in natural gas consumption in industrial areas by 16.5 per cent, followed by electric power plants by 15.5 per cent, oil fields by 11.9 per cent, and gas consumption in industrial projects plants increased by 8.9 per cent. — ONA
