The Oman Handball Association (OHA) held a ceremony to honour the champions of the national beach handball team at the City Seasons Hotel in Al Khuwair.

The ceremony, held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Firas bin Fatik al Said, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Suwaiq Club, also recognised the association’s board of directors, referees, observers, and partners at the end of the 2022/2023 sports season.

The national beach handball team was recognised for their outstanding performance in the ninth Asian Beach Handball Championship.

The team secured second place, qualifying them for the World Cup in Spain in 2024 for the eighth time in history. The team also qualified for the third Continental Championship of the World Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia in 2023. The Oman Handball Association’s board of directors expressed their appreciation for the team's hard work and commitment to excellence.

Dr Saeed bin Ahmed al Shehri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Handball Association, delivered a speech at the beginning of the ceremony, praising the team's success and their management.

Al Shehri also thanked the referees, including Omar bin Saeed al Shehhi and Khamis bin Suhaim al Wahaibi, for their efforts in successfully managing the OHA’s competitions. He also expressed his gratitude to the departments of sports complexes, press, and media for their cooperation with the association.

The ceremony began with Al Shehri presenting a souvenir to HH Sayyid Firas bin Fatik al Said, who then honoured the members of the Board of Directors of the OHA, the national beach handball team, referees, observers, media, and collaborating parties for their contributions to the 2022/2023 sports season.

“Excellence requires responsibility, hard work, commitment, and sacrifice. This achievement did not come out of nowhere,” noted Al Shehri adding “The OHA congratulates the national beach handball team and all those who contributed to the success of the 2022/2023 sports season.”
