Culture competitions of Al Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta conclude

NIZWA: Culture competitions of Al Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta governorates concluded at Nizwa Cultural Centre recently.


The ceremony was under the auspices of Ahmed bin Salim al Hajri, Director-General of Nizwa Industrial City (Madayn), in the presence of Ahmed bin Mohammed al Harrasi, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The celebration was also attended by officials and youths.


The ceremony began with an introduction by Afnan bint Khalfan al Mayahi. She spoke about the programme and its importance to various groups of society. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth seeks to activate the cultural role of clubs through a set of programmes and activities for young people. These activities contribute to building their knowledge intellectually and developing their creative skills.


Mohammed bin Hamiar al Rashdi, head of the work team, gave a speech in which he explained the importance of the competitions where 1,671 males and females took part. At the end of the speech, he thanked everyone who contributed to the success of this year's competition.


After that, a short video on competitions was shown.


After that, the poet Hamad al Mazrouei, who won first place at the governorate level, recited a poem. Afterward, Al Munther al Khasibi, winner of the interior and central governorates, provided sports commentary. A chanting and musical performance followed.


The Director-General of Nizwa Industrial City (Madayn) gave away prizes to the winners. In sports commentary, the first place was won by Al Munther bin Salim al Khasibi from Al Bashaer Club. In popular poetry, the winner was Hamad bin Said al Mazrouei from Al Hamra Club, while the winner in chanting was Al Baraa bin Ahmed al Sayadi from Bahla Club. Khaled bin Ali al Qasimi from Bahla Club won the top prize in music. In cultural competition (Omani women), the team consisting of Ghuson bint Hamoud al Amri, Ashwaq bint Ahmed al Fahdi and Bayan bint Zayed al Amri from Izki club, was the winner. Top theatre award went to Bahla Club, and the second prize to Nizwa Club.
