Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), presided over the launch of Future Cities Company (Tadoom) at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, in the presence of a number of high-ranking officials and members of the State Council.

Tadoom is an Omani semi-governmental company specialised in developing and providing smart city solutions that help create more efficient and sustainable communities and cities. This is achieved by improving service efficiency using technologies, the latest IoT innovations, artificial intelligence applications, and big data, all aimed at enhancing quality of life and building sustainable, high-performance cities that meet the needs and requirements of their residents, while involving them in building a community environment that follows global trends. The company is one of the investments of the Oman Investment Authority in the IoT sector.

Tadoom seeks to enable both the government and private sectors to provide basic and service infrastructure through digital solutions, benefiting from global experiences in employing IoT, AI, cloud computing, and big data analysis, which in turn contributes to making cost-effective developmental decisions and achieving objectives according to service requirements based on the data collected via IoT.

The company covers many sectors and services that are essential for both governmental and private entities, contributing to their development and facilitation, such as smart water solutions, smart energy solutions, smart environmental solutions, smart mobility solutions, smart building solutions, and smart governance.

Al Murshidi said: "Investing in an Omani company operating in a promising sector with global and local partnerships adds exceptional economic and developmental value to both the local and global markets, and establishes a solid foundation for the technology sector."

Eng Abdullah bin Rashid al Badi, CEO of Tadoom, said the company provides solutions for smart cities and aims to increase the efficiency of services by reducing operational costs through a build-operate-transfer ownership system.

“We have intensified our efforts in the renewable energy sector, where we launched Solar Valley Company, one of the first local companies involved in developing electricity production projects from renewable energy sources, to contribute to reducing emissions and achieving the carbon neutrality target by 2050. In the smart cities sector, we presented a pioneering model in partnership between the public and private sectors as the first project of its kind in the Sultanate, cutting these wide stages with a design, construction, operation, and ownership transfer system, employing ideal artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies by implementing one of the largest smart metering projects. We have also worked on designing, building, and operating the first commercial network for the Internet of Things” Al Badi added.

Through its partnership with Omantel, Tadoom is adopting Internet of Things technologies, in addition to providing innovative financing solutions and opening investment spaces for partnership with institutions through the 'Build, Operate, Transfer' system – a move aimed at increasing efficiency by reducing operating costs."

The launch witnessed an exhibition of Future Cities Company 'Tadoom' products and their utilization of artificial intelligence technologies. Tadoom also signed a cooperation agreement in the field of the Internet of Things with Omantel, represented by CEO Shaikh Talal al Mamari. Tadoom also signed an agreement to develop smart cities under 'Marafiq', represented by Eng Abdullah al Hashmi, Executive Director of Marafiq.
