Crucial fixtures in concluding groups round of Omantel Schools League

The concluding round of group stage of the 2022- 23 Omantel Schools Football League will feature four crucial fixtures on Saturday. The top two winners from each four groups will advance to the quarterfinals and this will be decided after conclusion of this round. The six days league is under umbrella of Oman Schools Sports Association (OSSA).


The North Batinah educational team will take on Dhofar educational team in Group B on Saturday and the match will start at 4 pm while Al Buraimi educational team will face north A'Sharqiyah educational team in Group D with kick off at 5 pm. Al Dhakhiliya educational team will meet Al Wusta educational team in Group A at 6 pm.


The last match of the day will be between Muscat educational team and Al Dhahirah in Group C at 7 pm.


All the matches will be held at Royal Oman Police Stadium in Al Wattayah.


In earlier matches on Thursday, Al Dhakhiliya educational team commenced their campaign on a positive note as they registered a 3-0 win over Musandam educational team. Bashar al Shamsi, Ziyad al Salmi and Mulhim al Rawahi netted the goals.


The North Batinah team thrashed Private schools team 12-0 to claim three crucial points. Sohar based team dominated in the match and managed to score 12 goals which shows the powerful attacking side of the team. Muscat educational team finished their game against North A'Sharqiyah 1-0 while Al Buraimi defeated south Batinah educational team 1-0.


The head coach of Oman national U-17 team, Anwar al Habsi, who attended the Omantel Schools Football League, thanked OSSA for their efforts towards organising this league. “I am impressed with the talented players in different educational teams representing the governorates of Oman. Omantel Schools Football League targeted the players who were born in 2010-2011 while the national U-17 team players are eyeing on players born in 2008-2009. Despite that this will help us to have a strong data on the young age players for the future requirement,” he said.


“I am confident all the educational teams feature several talented players since all the teams opted this players in the first educational semester. I am expecting to see more potential players in the forthcoming days and the top faces will get their chances to progress into national teams,” he added.


The head coach of Al Dhakhiliya educational team, Nasser al Mayahi, praised his team players for the top show against Musandam in the opening match of the league. “I am very delighted with the significant performance from players and I am confident to see better in the forthcoming games. This opening triumph will encourage the boys to record more victories in the next rounds,” he said.


“I have many talented members in the team including Bashar al Shamsi and Ziyad al Salmi. We will work hard to position them properly in the next games and I am assure that they will join the national team if they continued on development of their technical performance,” he concluded.
