His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup for Camel Racing 2023 concluded with an exciting fourth day of competitions at the Al Fulaij Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka on Thursday.
As the sun rose on the final day, six main rounds of competitions were held for all categories, including 'Hagayeg', 'Lagaya', 'Ardah', 'Al Ythaa', 'Al Thanaya', and 'Al Hool'. The camels that qualified from the earlier three qualification races took part in five HM Cups, with luxurious SUV cars as the top prizes.
Hagayeg category
The opening round of the Hagayeg categories saw 'Mahdia', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Nasser al Dari, claim victory, followed closely by 'Altayyara', owned by Sultan al Jahhafi, in second place, and 'Maqam', owned by Ahmed al Dari, in third place.
Lagaya category
In the second round, the Lagaya categories took centre stage, and it was 'Fnd', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Hamad al Jedili, that emerged victorious. 'Alasimah', owned by Saud al Jabri, came in second place, while 'Samaria', owned by Amer al Wahibi, secured the third-place finish.
Al Ythaa category
The third round, which was reserved for the Al Ythaa categories, witnessed 'Mutibah', owned by Hajn Al Bashaer and trained by the gifted Humaid bin Mohammad al Jahhafi, take the top spot. 'Lwahib', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Ghaith bin Ali al Junaibi, came in second place, while 'Alshahiniyah', also owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Amer bin Rashid al Omari, claimed third place.
Al Thanaya category
The fourth round saw the Al Thanaya categories compete fiercely, with 'Saaib', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by the experienced Hamad al Jedili, emerging as the winner. In second place was 'Alshahinya', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Hamed al Ghafili, while 'Reval', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Amer al Omari, secured third place.
Al Hool category
The fifth round, which featured the Al Hool categories, was equally exciting, with 'Rahia', owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by skillful Hamad al Jedili, taking the top spot. 'Makhayel', also owned by the Royal Camel Corps and trained by Sabih al Wahibi, came in second place, while 'Aldhabi', owned by Hajn AL Bashair and trained by Obaid al Wahibi, clinched the third-place finish.
Ardah category
Finally, in the Ardah categories, the last round of the competition, 'Eftitah', owned by Amer al Zarei, claimed the top honours, followed closely by 'Takrem', owned by Sultan al Jahwari, in second place, and 'Hamloula', owned by Walled al Jahwari, in third place.
