335 karatekas to take part in Karate Pioneers Championship

MUSCAT: The Karate Pioneers Academy has completed the preparations for holding the sixth edition of the Open Karate Pioneers Championship under the umbrella of the Omani Karate Committee, which is hosted by the sub-hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, Muscat Governorate, on March 17 and 18.


As many as 335 male and female karatekas representing 27 clubs from 9 countries: the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Iraq, Sudan, Iran, and the United Kingdom will take part in the competition on Friday and Saturday. The tournament activities are divided into kata (mock fighting) and kumite (free fighting) competitions for males and females, according to the specific weights and age groups by the organising committee.


The International Karate Federation regulations will be applied, as the championship competitions will be managed by a group of international and national referees.
