HM patronises opening of Oman Across Ages Museum

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik patronized the official opening of the Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah in the Dakhiliyah Governorate on Monday.


Upon His Majesty's arrival at the Oman Across Ages Museum, Nasr bin Hamoud al Kindi, Secretary General of Royal Court Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Museum, Chairman of the Main Committee of the Museum Project, members of the Main Committee, and the Director General of the Museum receive him.






After that, His Majesty the Sultan went to the memorial plaque of the museum, where he lit the plaque, marking the official opening of the museum.


Then His Majesty was briefed on the exhibition of the foundation stone of the Oman Across Ages Museum, passing by the car used by the Late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, while laying the foundation stone of the museum.


After that, he visited the reception section, where the first entrance ticket to the museum was issued in the name of His Majesty, and His Majesty the Sultan kindly gifted it to the museum so that it would be among the museum's collections.


After that, His Majesty the Sultan went through the Arts Corridor to the National Day screen, whose dimensions bear the symbolism of the Glorious National Day with a width of 18 meters and a length of 11 meters, where His Majesty the Sultan listened to the speech of the Oman Museum Across Ages over time delivered on behalf of the main committee of the museum project.


Eng. Al-Yaqzan bin Abdullah al Harithi, Director General of the Museum, emphasized that the museum takes into account the use of the latest technologies in the museum display and for the selection of a group of valuable holdings that indicate the depth and originality of Omani history.


He also indicated in his speech that the design of the museum building was inspired by the lofty Hajar Mountains, and its connection with the Omani environment was taken into account in its construction through the materials used in its construction.


He expressed the thanks to the High Majesty for his continuous support for the completion of this museum. Then His Majesty the Sultan watched an introductory film about the Oman Across Ages, which reviewed the architectural aspects of the museum and its use of modern interactive technologies.


His Majesty the Sultan toured the corridors of the museum, listening to a summary of the most prominent pavilions included in the museum in the Hall of History and the Hall of the Blessed Renaissance, in addition to the Hall of the Future, which included the three winning projects in the second round of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design.


His Majesty was briefed on the lecture hall and the ideas and innovation labs at the Knowledge Center.


At the end of the opening ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan accepted a souvenir from the Oman Across Ages Museum by the Secretary General of Royal Court Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Museum.
