MUSCAT, MARCH 11

Vale in Oman has announced the appointment of Nasser bin Sulaiman al Azri (pictured) as its new CEO. Al Azri, 34, is one of the first Omani CEOs of a 100 per cent foreign-owned company in the Sultanate of Oman.

A finance executive leader with expertise in industrial and logistics operations management, Al Azri is known for his resourcefulness and results-oriented leadership, managing multiple initiatives concurrently in high-pressure environments with strong change management, people development, collaboration, decision-making, and follow-through capabilities.

Guilherme Reinisch Neves, Chairman of Vale Oman, said: “We are very pleased by this appointment which illustrates that Vale is a talent-driven organisation that promotes the personal development of employees and values the people who built it.

That is why Vale has appointed a CEO who has been part of the organisation for the past 10 years and has a deep understanding of the local market, cultural nuances, and social dynamics, to help the company better serve its customers and build stronger relationships with local, regional, and global stakeholders, bringing a truly ‘global’ approach to the business.”

Al Azri has achieved significant accomplishments by focusing on safety, people, creativity, and diversity in his role as Vale in Oman CFO. “I am honoured to receive this incredible recognition from a company that I have called home for over a decade. During my tenure, I will focus on strategic investments and partnerships, and work to position the organisation for long-term success and growth. My aim is to benefit not only the organisation but also its employees, community, and customers,” Al Azri said.

Al Azri will oversee Vale’s growth in the region in terms of both increased community engagement, amplified sustainability initiatives and the development of the new briquetting plant in Suhar, which is expected to lend more flexibility to Vale’s operations to serve a wider choice of steel mills in the region.
