The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs will shortlist the applicants eligible for this year’s Hajj on March 11.

The ministry received as many as 33,536 applications, including 29,930 from Omanis and 3,606 requests from residents for this year’s Hajj, which will be held in the first week of June. The registration closed on March 5.

Only 14,000 people from the Sultanate of Oman will be able to perform Hajj this year through the ministry as per the agreement with the General Authority for Awqaf (GAA) of Saudi Arabia.

Those who are selected through online sorting will be contacted directly and will have five days to sign contracts through the online system with Haj companies.

The Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah recorded the highest number of applications, followed by North Al Batinah and Muscat.

The Sultanate of Oman this year has 14,000 slots of which 13,098 are for Omanis, 500 for residents, and 402 for officials.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs opened the online system for approved Hajj companies to update their data and enter the services.
