The Pakistani veterans hockey team which is on an official tour, along with the members of the Oman Hockey Association (OHA) were hosted by the Pakistani community in Oman over a dinner in honour of their meritorious accomplishments in promoting hockey in the region.


Hosted by Abid Mugar and Dr Sharrif, Mian Mohammad Munir, former chairman of Pakistan Social Club along with his team, Abbas, Asghar Ali, Shabir Ahmed, Nasir Maroof, Kaleem Akhtar, Imran Iqbal, Abdul Rahman Gullo, Ch Ashraf, Asif Shakeel, Iqbal Jafar and Syed Fiaz Ali Shah welcomed both the teams as well as the officials from the Pakistan Embassy in Oman.


The Pakistani veterans team had been in Oman to play a series of three matches against the Oman national veterans team at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher recently.

The first and third matches ended in 2-2 draws, while the Pakistan team beat Oman Veterans 5-1 in the second match.


During the dinner, the players interacted with members of the Pakistani community, shared their experiences from the matches, and expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome they had received in Oman. They also spoke about the importance of sports in promoting peace and unity between two countries.


“The reception was a wonderful opportunity for the Pakistani community in Oman to come together and celebrate the achievements of the hockey team. It was a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and goodwill that exist between the people of Pakistan and Oman, and it showed that sports could bring people together and promote peace and harmony in the world,” Mohammad Kaleem Akhtar, spokesperson of the team said.
