More than 3,000 volunteers came together to clean up various areas of the wilayat recently. These volunteers were from Nizwa Club, Nizwa Charitable Team, Nizwa Healthy Lifestyles Project and the private institutions of the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Nizwa Municipality provided the equipment and supplies for the volunteers.

Khalfan bin Hamad al Zaidi, President of Nizwa Club, thanked volunteers and organisations for making the initiative a grand success.

The volunteers went in groups to more than 40 sites in Nizwa including Birkat Al Mouz, Radat Al Busaid, Taimsa, Ghaf Al Sheikh, Hay Al Ain, Nizwa market, Al Ruwaishiyah, Al Ghaftin, Marfa Daris, Wadi Sumait, Tanuf, and others.

Al Zaidi added: "The focus was on cleaning aflaj, trimming branches of trees, gathering fallen leaves, clearing walkways and cutting weeds. More than 500 seedlings were planted with the support of the Environment Authority. Several heritage villages and residential neighbourhoods were cleaned. Some teams also conducted cleaning campaigns for mosques, schools, cemeteries and public places. The camp witnessed awareness campaigns about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and health and its sustainability in the local environment."

The campaign was preceded by continuous preparation for more than a month, during which the permissions were taken from authorities and sponsorships were sought. All volunteers were given food and drinking water.
