

The Arab Open University (AOU) celebrated the grand opening of its new campus in Maabela in the Wilayat of Al Seeb. The opening celebration was held under the auspices of Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minster of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the AOU.
Present on the occasion were AOU-Oman Rector Prof Mohammed al Badi, AOU Chairman Prof Mohammed al Zakri, dignitaries, faculty members and officials.
The new campus has been built as per the latest architectural design standards and is characterised by Omani Islamic style of architectural design. The facade is decorated with Mashrabiyas representing Islamic architecture.
The Arab Open University is a non-profit educational institution owned by Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND). Its activities are funded by the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The AOU headquarters is located in Kuwait with eight branches, including the Sultanate of Oman.
The Arab Open University in the Sultanate of Oman offers programmes in Education, Law, Computer Sciences and Business Studies. It attracts groups of diploma, bachelor and master’s students confirming the university’s ability to implement its various programmes by the principles of local and international academic and institutional accreditation.
The AOU-Oman holds local institutional accreditation from Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA), and international institutional accreditation from university’s strategic partner the Open University in United Kingdom.
