This year, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has a significant presence at the Muscat International Book Fair 2023 with a pavilion design depicting various touristic attractions in the Sultanate of Oman.

The ministry is participating with 30 titles in Arabic and English in the annual event, which will conclude on March 4.

At the 27th Muscat International Book Fair, the publications from the ministry have titles that highlight the cultural and historical heritage of the Sultanate of Oman, along with the archaeological discoveries. In addition, its tourist brochures on display reflect the tourism diversity of the Sultanate of Oman. The ministry's participation in this exhibition comes as an achievement of its continuous approach of publishing Omani books and references and bringing them closer to researchers, academics, specialists and the public.

In addition to the books, the pavilion's fascinating feature is a project for documenting and photographing historical monuments in the Sultanate of Oman using virtual reality technology, where the visitor has the opportunity to tour with virtual reality technology in many historical monuments such as lanes, castles, forts and archaeological sites.

According to the team at the book fair, this project is the first of its kind in the Middle East. It offers an exciting and unique roaming experience through virtual reality designed to enrich the visitor's experience in the corner of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

The ministry's pavilion also includes research and documentary studies in heritage, handicraft industries, and the museum sector, in addition to documentary studies and specialised publications on ancient historic neighbourhoods such as Al Aqr, Al Sibani, Al Sulaif, Al Yaman and Fanja.

A major attraction for the visitors has been the three-dimensional model of the Omani Botanical Garden, which is one of the projects that celebrate rare Omani plants, and once it is opened, it will display all Omani plants found in different natural environments. It will also include all the components such as the nursery, the visitor centre, the research centre, the field studies centre, the external environments, the visitors centre, research centre, field studies centre, outdoor environment, outdoor environments centre, northern mountain indoor environment, southern mountain, indoor environment, education park etc. In addition to many places for children to play, family gatherings, and places of rest and relaxation inspired by the Omani environments, the garden will also contain a seed bank, which is the largest seed bank in the Sultanate of Oman.
