Over 33,000 register online for Hajj 2023 from Oman: Mera

MUSCAT: Over 33,356 people (33,536), including 3,606 expatriates, have registered online for Hajj 2023, according to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA). The total number of Omanis registered for Hajj is 29,930.


The ministry opened the online registration for citizens and residents wishing to perform Hajj for the year 1444 AH from February 21, which concluded on March 4.


A statement issued by MERA, said, 'A total of 42,406 applications have been received, most of which are from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate (5,701).


Other governorates include Muscat (5,739), North al Batinah (5,016), South al Batinah (3,055), North al Sharqiyah (3,111), South Al Sharqiyah (2,350), Dhofar (3,277), Al Dhahirah (1,704), Al Wusta (240), Musandam (200), Al Buraimi (485).


According to the Saudi government, the minimum age for performing this year’s Hajj is 12 years, and the number of pilgrims returns to the pre-pandemic times.
