There are many activities for children and families at the 27th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair. Children’s pavilion, which comprises theatre section, reading, writing and art corner, science corner and the Children’s Museum, is the biggest crowd puller at the Book Fair.


Saud bin Bader al Bahri, General Supervisor of the Children’s Pavilion, said: "We have made some modifications and developed the Children's Pavilion this year to keep pace with the various other activities that are carried out in the fair to make the venue comfortable and enjoyable for children and families.


"We have witnessed a large turnout of the general public and schools since the beginning of the exhibition, and the turnout is still increasing with every passing day," he added.


In the theatre corner, many plays dealing with children and reading activities are carried out. It also has educational workshops, entertainment and scientific activities, in addition to many audio-visual activities for children of different age groups. The idea is to let them enjoy, encourage, extend care, and highlight their talent.


The Science Corner hosts many scientific activities such as robotics, innovations, chemical reactions, 3D printers, and many other interesting scientific activities for children.



Atika bin Abi Sufra School in Al Mussanah, is participating in the Science Corner with Green Schools Programme. Rima bint Khusaib bin Hamdan of the school says, "The school is environment friendly and is keen on applying sustainability in all scientific and applied aspects that promote sustainability. The programme includes various activities, including afforestation and renewable energy, waste management, recycling of used papers and clothes, waste classification and recycling of environmental raw materials."


Dr Wafaa bint Salem Al Shamsiyeh, from the Organising Committee of the Children's Corner, said: "The Children's Corner at the Muscat International Book Fair attracted several institutions, including official and private ones, in this session. The focus is there to create diversity in the activities and programmes that the child longs to know. The Omani heritage inspires some activities to enhance the identity and consolidate the connection with the Omani environment and its various characteristics for the child.


The Children's Museum at the Muscat International Book Fair has a variety of artistic, cultural and scientific activities, as well as interactive shows in the theatre in science and a session with the story. The supervisor of the Children's Museum, Salwa al Rashdia, said it was the second year for the Museum to participate in the MIBF.


She said activities organised by the Children's Museum are interactive. It evoked a good response from the visitors of all age groups.
