MUSCAT, FEB 26

The Oman Economic Association (OEA) has unveiled the second edition of its economic research award series, titled ‘Scientific Article’, which aims to encourage scientific research in the field of economic diversification and growth stimulation.

The launch was under the auspices of Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy at the ministry premises.

Dr Khalid bin Said al Amri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Economic Association, said that the award series, from its outset, has catalysed the growth of innovative ideas through research papers covering various methodologies and approaches. The maiden edition of the award series garnered 36 local and international research papers, he stated.

The award, Dr Al Amri said, helps encourage decision-makers to develop new solutions to existing economic challenges. Furthermore, it creates a platform for researchers to engage with each other on various economic issues.

A digital compilation of these research findings is now available in local and Arab libraries.

The Association, the Chairman said has been supporting efforts to study novel ways of achieving economic sustainability, which is also an objective of the second award.

Submissions will be evaluated against four criteria: financial policies, social policies, laws and legislation, Oman Vision 2040, developmental economic trends, and sustainability.

The second edition of the Association’s Award for Economic Research features two categories: the category of researchers holding master’s and doctoral degrees, and the category of researchers holding a bachelor’s degree and students of universities.

The timeline for submission and evaluation of entries is available on the Association’s website. The results will be announced in December.
