OAA launches first edition of 'Muscat Beats' music festival

Muscat: The first edition of the Muscat Beats multi-concert music and culture festival was officially launched on Sunday under the patronage of Brigadier Jamal Bin Said Al Tai, Board Member, Oman Automobile Association and Chairman of the Muscat Beats Organising Committee at the Muscat Arena premises.


Muscat Beats is all set to thrill Oman’s concert audiences with one of the most impressive line-ups of international music stars from the region and South Asia, ever seen.


The event is being held at the state-of -the- art Muscat Arena with a capacity to host an audience of 20,000 every night. A breathtaking 24 meter wide Main Stage created by Technical Partner, Talentz features the largest IMAG LED Screens ever used in Oman. It has been designed to the best international standards, and is one of the highlights of the Event.


The five-day musical extravaganza, will span over two weekends, starting on Thursday, March 2nd, running through Saturday, March 4th, followed by March 10th and 11th.


One of the biggest artists in the Arab world Aedh Yousef from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia opens the festival on Thursday 2 March.


The Indian musical genius Maestro Ilaiyaraaja performs for the first time in Oman on Friday 3 March.


The biggest Bangla concert of singers, Ankhi Alamgir, Nancy and Imran Mahmudul and superstar Shakib Khan making an appearance is set for Saturday 4 March.

Sunidhi Chauhan, the singing queen of Bollywood kicks off the following weekend with a scintillating performance on Friday, March 10.


Rahat Fateh Ali Khan the legend of Pakistan closes the festival on March 11.


Over one hundred and thirty musicians are accompanying the Stars and it promises to be a milestone in Oman’s Live Entertainment history.


“A very unique aspect of the event is also to promote locally available talent under the larger umbrella of the global stars”, said Brigadier Jamal Bin Said Al Tai


We have therefore created a separate Entertainment District which is a free to attend 10-day event running concurrently with the Global concerts,” he added. This will feature performances from local amateur talent as well as special days from different communities showcasing music and culture from their respective countries. Food stalls and a souq will add to the family-oriented celebration of the district.


“Additionally, world class services including Traffic management systems, contactless ticketing lanes and security and hospitality services inside the event venue are noteworthy, said Suleiman Rawahi, Managing Director, Oman Automobile Association.


“In collaboration with Mwasalat, Muscat Beats will also offer extensive free parking at the old Exhibition Centre, with free shuttle bus service for ticket holders to and from the parking and the venue. Additional bus routes (Routes 1 and 1A) and Route 12 to the venue are extra services for the convenience of the large audiences expected,” he said.
