The International Aviation Legal Advisers Forum, hosted for the first time in the Sultanate of Oman, concluded yesterday with the participation of around 63 countries and three international organizations. The 3-day event was organised by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in coordination with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and held under the patronage of Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.

This forum, in its second edition, came as a platform for legal advisors to exchange expertise, experiences and viewpoints related to legal issues in the field of civil aviation, in addition to discussing the challenges facing the States Parties, possible aspects of cooperation and proposed solutions to address the challenges emanating from technical, social and economic development.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Oman’s accession to the ICAO, the Civil Aviation Authority also launched a slogan to commemorate this milestone. In another highlight, the CAA and ICAO signed an agreement for administrative services support, aimed at achieving compliance with the highest standards of safety in the field of civil aviation.

The forum included four discussion sessions related to civil aviation issues, and a special youth session for young people aimed at listening to their opinions and inquiries related to international civil aviation issues, and urging them to pursue careers in this field as the next generation of aviation specialists.

The forum was accompanied by a technical exhibition in which a number of institutions related to the aviation sector participated, and another craft exhibition aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises, and introducing the ancient cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Oman and the most famous handicraft industries.

In concluding comments, Eng Abdel Nabi Manar, Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, said: “The global aviation industry is in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and studies show that the global air transport industry plays an important role in supporting The goals of sustainable development, especially the goals related to the eradication of poverty, by providing support to airlines to keep their workers and prevent the diversion of labor from the civil aviation sector, and to eradicate hunger by preserving the continuation of air carriers in air cargo flights to provide humanitarian aid to areas affected by natural disasters.”

He stressed that the Sultanate of Oman's hosting of this event confirms its keenness to support the efforts of the international community by contributing to the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization, and enhancing continuous focus and exchanging experiences, experiences and viewpoints, in line with the directives of the organization's governance organs.
