MUSCAT: Team LTHE (Larsen & Toubro Hydrocarbon Engg) recorded a heroic victory in the final against Al Nadaha to clinch the prestigious Jindal Panthers Corporate Cricket Tournament trophy.

Over 20 corporate teams, including two teams - Jindal Panther A and Jindal Panther - from organisers Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel, vied for the champion's title at the high-octane tournament, which saw LTHE and Al Nadaha make it to the final round with scores of 34 and 50 respectively in the semifinal.

In its third edition, the popular Jindal Panthers Corporate Cricket Tournament 2023, held over the weekend at the Suhar grounds in Sallan, featured league matches, Super Seven knockout matches and semifinals, followed by an electrifying final match that had the audience rooting for a high-scoring finish.

A large digital screen was in place to broadcast live matches and scorecard, alongside messages from Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel CEO, Harssha Shetty. The matches were also transmitted live on YouTube for cricket enthusiasts who could not make it to the venue.

As part of the tournament, every participating team was required to play two league matches to qualify for the knockout round, which then picked four teams to fight it out for the semifinal and the grand final match. An exciting women’s cricket match was also held on the sidelines between team Jindal Panther Women and the ‘Women Cricket Sohar.’

Ahead of the tournament, Harssha Shetty said, “We are proud to say that our passion has been contagious enough to gather 21 teams from various companies in Al Batinah.”

He also underscored the company’s inclusivity policy, which was the spur behind the exclusive women’s cricket match, held on the sidelines of the tournament. He said, “woman’s cricket is not just a niche interest; it is a growing sport with lots of fans and great athletes. And we hope for more participation in the future.”

We want our employees to be able to enjoy their work and to feel proud of the company they work for. At Jindal Shadeed, we are very keen on creating a safe and healthy environment, and we encourage all sports initiatives, and all healthy work-life relationships.”
