Bank Muscat opens new Green Sports field in Al Khabourah

MUSCAT: In line with its commitment to social responsibility, community development and the youth, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, continues to hand over new Green Sports Fields to sports teams across the Sultanate of Oman.


The bank recently inaugurated the new Green Sports field for Al Khuwairat Sports Team in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah at an event held under the auspices of Shaikh Sultan bin Humaid bin Mohammed al Hosni, Member of the Majlis Ash'shura and Al Khabourah representative. The event was also attended by Yaqoob bin Abdullah al Hosni, Branch Manager – Khabourah, Bank Muscat, and Ahmed bin Said al Qutaiti, Head of the Al Khuwairat Sports Team.


Speaking on the occasion, Yaqoob bin Abdullah al Hosni, Branch Manager – Khabourah, Bank Muscat, said that the new floodlighting facility provided under Green Sports support would greatly help the Al Khuwairat team improve its capabilities and talent. He congratulated the team for completing the project on time and requested the


community to make the best use of the facilities, including for social and community events, adding that community and social events would help improve community bonding. Yaqoob bin Abdullah al Hosni also expressed his hope that Al Khuwairat team would contribute talent at the very top level so as to enhance the sporting talents and capabilities of Omani youth.


On his part, Ahmed bin Said al Qutaiti, Head of the Al Khuwairat Sports Team thanked Bank Muscat for its pioneering role in corporate social responsibility, particularly in Green Sports, which is contributing to the building of quality sports infrastructure across the Sultanate of Oman. He affirmed that the team would continue to work hard to develop the capabilities and talents of its members as a way to contribute to developing the overall sports sector in Oman.


Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme is one of the leading CSR programmes in Oman, which provides support to local sports teams as part of the bank’s efforts to develop sports infrastructure and green spaces throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The support includes greening of football pitches, water desalination and lighting. It is a matter of great encouragement that the Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme has so far benefitted 163 teams with over 50,000 team members across the Sultanate of Oman.


The bank recently concluded the registration for teams applying for Green Sports support in 2023, with the evaluation process set to start soon. In 2023 too, the bank will support 20 youth sports teams across the Sultanate of Oman through the programme.
