MUSCAT: The Embassy of India in Oman, in collaboration with Oman Hockey Association (OHA), conducted a successful yoga session for the national men's and women's hockey teams of Oman on Thursday.
The session also marked the launch of ‘Oman Yoga Yatra’ the five-month-long series of Yoga events, which will culminate on the International Yoga Day on June 21.
The yoga session, which was conducted at the embassy premises, was led by a team of experienced yoga instructors from India. The participants, including the players and coaching staff, were introduced to various yoga postures and breathing exercises that can help improve their mental and physical health, and enhance their performance on the field.
OHA Chairman Dr Marwan al Juma was the chief guest of the yoga event. The exclusive yoga event provided a great opportunity for the players to learn new techniques to help them stay focused and physically fit.
Commenting on the successful yoga session, Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to Oman, said, "We are delighted to have had the opportunity to share our traditional practice of yoga with the national men and women hockey teams of Oman. Yoga is not just a form of physical exercise, but a way of life that can help one achieve a state of balance, harmony and well-being. We hope that the players will continue to practice yoga and benefit from it in their personal and professional lives."
The Oman Yoga Yatra will include regular yoga sessions, workshops and lectures on various aspects of yoga, as well as specific demographics and health conditions. The programme will culminate on International Yoga Day on June 21, with a special event that will showcase popularity of Yoga in Oman.
