Seeb dominate 2022-23 volleyball season with three titles

Seeb stamped their domination in the 2022-23 volleyball domestic competitions by winning the major titles for this season.


After taking the first division league title late on Monday, the Muscat-based team blanked their opponents Oman Club 3-0 once again to lift the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Volleyball Shield Championship crown on Wednesday night. The Ministry’s Shield triumph was Seeb’s fifth straight title in the tournament history.

Seeb team, coached by national experienced coach Jamal al Maamari, had begun their new season strongly as they had clinched the Super Cup on November 28, 2022. It was the first title for the team this season.


Seeb spikers made the accomplishment after they had defeated their regular opponents Oman Club 3-1. Then, the champions followed it up with another victory over Oman Club on Monday as they won the first division league’s title with a 3-0 victory.

Seeb’s triumph over Oman Club in the Ministry’s Volleyball Shield Championship confirmed their authority in the local volleyball events. In the thrilling final match on Wednesday night at the main indoor hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Seeb stars began the game with top focus to manage the opening set with a two-point margin at 26-24.


In the following set, Seeb players Younis al Amri and the professional player Adam besides their team-mates powered ahead to win the set by 25-18.


Oman Club players tried to fight back in the deciding set but coach Jamal al Maamari’s men confirmed their lead by finishing the set 25-20 and they sealed the win.

SUHAR THIRD


Suhar club concluded their campaign in the Ministry’s Volleyball Shield Championship at third place. The northern Batinah team beat Al Bashaer club 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-18).


Khalid bin Salim al Ghassani, Adviser at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth was the chief guest for the concluding ceremony. He gave away the medals to the top three winners and presented the championship shield to the Seeb captain.


On the other hand, the runners-up of the Ministry’s Volleyball Shield Championship, Oman Club will represent the Sultanate of Oman in the West Asian Volleyball clubs championship which will take place in Jordan during March 7 to 18.


The Oman representatives are clubbed in Group A along with Kuwait club, Al Minaa Adan from Yemen, Police club from Qatar, Jordan’s Al Wahadat FC. Qatar’s Al Rayyan lead Group B alongside Bahrain’s Dar Kaleeb, Iraq’s Gas Ganoob, Jordan’s Shabab al Hussain and Al Nabi Al Yaas from Palestine.
