Applications for natural gas allocations may now be submitted via a new e-portal unveiled on Wednesday by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals part of its efforts to streamline requests for gas, as well as digitalise the process.
Henceforth, requests for natural gas as feedstock or fuel resource will have to be channeled through the e-portal: gasapplications.mem.gov.om. This includes both new investors or existing industries requires natural gas for their operations, the Ministry noted.
The electronic platform has been designed to enable investors and industrial consumers to not only submit requests for gas allocations, but also provide their feedstock, furnish additional information to support their applications, and so on. It also allows other government stakeholder agencies to review the requests and offer their inputs as well.
In a statement, Qasim bin Mohammed al Amri (pictured), Acting Director General of Marketing at the Ministry, said the launch of the platform is in line with the government’s e-transformation drive aimed at facilitating the delivery of services to investors and the general public efficiently and transparently.”
