People from all walks of life are joining hands to support the earthquake victims of Turkiye and Syria. The scene at the embassy collection centre is overwhelming. Humanity is prevailing over calamity.

Men, women and children bring provisions and other necessities in trucks and deliver them to the volunteers, ready to take them to the sorting centre. These collected items would be moved to Türkiye and Syria for the needy in earthquake-hit areas.

The embassies of Syria and Turkiye have renewed their call for humanitarian aid from the Sultanate of Oman and updated on the items that the affected people need.

There is a great need for winter tents, generators, sleeping bags and blankets.

“Thanks to all who have come forward and extended their help and support to the quake victims until today. At present, we are in great need of tents to use at the minus degree temperature, heaters and generators for power, sleeping bags and blankets at the spot,” said Manar Allouzi of the Embassy of Turkiye.

“Money would be the easiest way to reach out to the victims as a government agency back in Turkiye has been assigned to purchase all necessary materials for the affected people.”

“We are collecting all necessary things and funds to support the victims of the disastrous earthquake that affected our motherland, and one can easily support by calling 91252279,” informed Samer Bakour, a representative of the Syrian Embassy. “We receive all your cash and in-kind donations from 8 am to 8 pm at the headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Al Khuwair and through a bank account, the number of which can be had from the embassy.

The officials have requested the donors to follow embassy websites and social media handles while sending money.

“We have repeatedly given the bank account details so that we can ensure money reaches the needy,” says Manar.

Aid and donations can be delivered in a box containing a list of contents to the embassy headquarters at Shatti al Qurum, Street No 3019, Building No 1622, where the items will be sorted out and packed in separate boxes before loading them onto Turkish Airlines.
