Seeb crowned volleyball first division champs

Seeb were crowned 2022-23 first division title of the Oman Volleyball League after beating Oman Club 3-0 at the main indoor hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Monday night.


In a historic record, Seeb ended their campaign in the league with no defeat. Seeb finished as runners-up in the last edition. Al Bashayer claimed the third place as they edged Suhar 3-1 in the third and fourth play-off.


Seeb and Oman Club will clash again on Wednesday night in the final of the Ministry’s Volleyball Shield Championship for 2022-23 season. The match will kick off at 6:30 pm at the main indoor hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


In the thrilling final match of the first division league, Seeb players ended the scoreline at 25-22, 27-25 and 25-19. Despite Oman Club leading in the first set, Seeb’s Younis al Amri and his team-mates bounced back strongly as they managed to win the set by 25-22. Oman Club tried very hard in the following set to make a return to the match but Seeb spikers secured their lead to end the set again for their side by 27-25. In the deciding set, Seeb players were much focused in the game while Oman’s spikers and setters made mistakes. Seeb won the set and title comfortably at 25-19.


Among individual awards, Ibrahim al Toobi from Al Bashayer was named the best libero player. Seeb’s Adam al Jalboubi grabbed the best setter award. Oman’s Saud al Mamari and Ahmed al Toobi claimed the best player award in position (3). Al Bashayer’s Ahmed al Yahyaei and Seeb’s Younis al Amri won the best player award in position (4). Seeb’s Khamis al Jabri bagged the best spiker honour in position (2) while Oman Club's Falah al Jaradi clinched the Most Valuable Player award (MVP) of the championship.


Eng Bader bin Salim bin Marhoon al Mamari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board, was the chief guest for the final and gave away the medals and trophies. Al Bashayer players received the bronze medals while Oman Club players were awarded the silver medals. Seeb players were handed the gold medals and the title from the chief guest. Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, Chairman of Oman Volleyball Association (OVA), presented a memento to the chief guest.
