Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) has announced that registration will be open for citizens and residents wishing to perform Hajj rituals for the 1444AH from February 21.

The registration can be done online by pilgrims of the Sultanate of Oman at http://hajj.om, until March 4.

Saudi Arabia is set to host 2 million pilgrims for Hajj this year, says a government official.

Last year around 900,000 pilgrims were welcomed to Saudi Arabia’s holiest cities.

Several development and infrastructure projects have been undertaken in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide quality services to holy sites.

Projects underway are valued at $53bn (SR200bn) and include the Haramain Express Train, which connects Makkah and Madinah in a two-hour journey.
